A Mosiac Project

The table and the birdbath were inspiration pieces that I had seen at one of my favorite store.
Victoria's Antique Warehouse in Leesburg FL. Ever taken a photo hoping your hubby would say, "We really need this." lol

I was looking at Jennifer's website http://www.theoldpaintedcottage.com/ In The Cottage of the month for July I saw a beautiful tray that finally got me moving on trying my hand at mosiacs.

THE START OF A MOSIAC

I remember the day that I accidently knocked a plate rack off the wall at the shop. When it hit the ground I sighed. I couldn't throw the pieces away because I had seen so many wonderful mosiac done by more skillful hands than I possess.
Does anyone else have a box of broken china?
The other day I decided to try to make a mosiac.
The old silver tray I found at a thrift store. It had engravings in the middle that were about some golf tournament. At first I sprayed the tray but the paint didn't stay put. Not wanting to pitch it I decided that this is where the broken china would go.
I really did not mean for it to look like a rooster. lol

This is the finished piece. The little roses came from a garage sale find and I snapped them off to place on the tray handles. This is a messy project but I enjoyed it.

It's your turn now!

I won't be posting for a few days. I am working on another project so come back to see what is happening at my shabby old house.

Have a great week

Becky

It turned out great!
I have a box of pieces to make a mosaic table. I don't know if it will ever happen. My daughter has done it so maybe I should just ask her to do it for me.
I also have a silver tray that would be great like that.

WOW!! That turned out absolutely beautiful. My daughter took a mosaic class in school and made the Eifel Tower out of little pieces of mirror and colored glass. I must learn how to do this one day.
I love your tray!

Hey Becky!
I think you did a wonderful job with the mosaic tray! It's so gorgeous. I have always loved mosaics....I have often wondered how difficult it is to do and what materials are needed. I can't wait to see what else you make. Hope you have a great day!

Oh look! I posted in the wrong place. I've been wanting to try this technique for so long but am terrified. I have a bag of broken china just waiting under my bed. I was thinking of a fireplace surround all in pinks. Wouldn't that be romantic?
Your tray looks so sweet!

BTW - I love Eufala with all my heart. We drive through there on our way to Panama City. The churches in town are just gorgeous, too. I'm sure you will have a booming business!
