Granny's Room and Friday Favorites

This is My Sweet Granny and Pa
When my mother gave me my Granny's antiques I was thrilled. My Granny was an incredible woman. Her home should have graced magazines in the 50's. Every detail was perfect. The antiques that I have came from my Great great Grandfather, Judge David Kigore. Judge Kilgore was a pall bearer for Abraham Lincoln when the procession came through Indianapolis. My granny told me that chairs that I have may have seated President Lincoln as he was most likely a guest of my GG Grandfathers. My GG Grandfather was a U.S. Representative from Indiana in 1804. His life and the Presidents had so many simularities. He was born in KY and later studied law.

Needless to say my children stayed clear of Granny's things. I was lucky to find this wonderful old rose print at the flea market as well as the chandelier.
This is my Granny's piano. My son can really make it sing.
One day these tresures will go in our One Shabby Old House.
But for now they are in my living room which I lovingly call Granny's Room.

That's why I love antiques..they have a history and hold so many stories and maybe a scandalous secret or two. Only thing new in my house is toilet paper, food and underwear :0)

How lucky you are to have your Grandmothers things, and with such history behind them.

I wish I had a home large enough for at least a baby grand piano.

Thank you for sharing this.
