Consider the Birds

Today while looking at the steam rising off the lake my eyes quickly caught sight of a lot of commotion going on in our bird feeder.

Grabbing the binoculars I could see that this poor little guy had twittered his way through the opening obviously being drawn to all the seed inside. Then I suspect that he ate like a little pig until he could not twitter his way back outside again.

Compassion engulfed Dave and I as we watched the little bird's frantic attempts to free himself.
Out into the cold morning Dave went to help our little feathered friend.

I thought as I watched my hubby free the little captive how like this bird so often are we. Compelled with the desire for more we dive in never knowing that that "MORE" has the ability to hold us captive. We try and try and wear ourselves out trying to get out of the mess we have gotten in.

And like the hand that set this bird free we too have a gentle hand of mercy.
He is the Lord Jesus
And He came to set the captive free.

Luke 4:18
The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me
Because He annointed me to preach the gospel to the poor
He has sent me to proclaim release to the Captives
And the recovery of sight to the blind
To set free those who are downtrodden
and to proclaim the favorable year of the Lord.

Hi Becky, You know another reason why that bird might have been inside is because of a hawk was near by. Birds can really do some crazy things though, my birds inside are all nutty...But I love them dearly.

You found a lesson in that moment...I never would have done that.

The same thing actually happened at our house with a little bird in a feeder. I panicked and broke the feeder to get him out!
