Although I thought I had touched base and was safe , Christie at http://www.somewhereintime-christie.blogspot.com/ has tagged me with this game. I have to tell you seven things about me on these subjects. She has also given me an award. In fact so has Cori G. So here goes.
Seven Things I Plan To Do Before I Die.

• I plan to finish our home in Eufaula with enough life and hopefully money left to enjoy it.
• I plan on starting a Bed and Breakfast
• I plan to travel across country in our RV and hopefully meet my new blogging friends along the way.
• I plan to go to Italy.
• I plan to help start or be involved in a women's ministry.
• I plan on being a wonderful Grandma.
• I plan on learning how to paint roses.

• I can water ski
• I can snow ski
• I can drive a boat.
• I can drive our RV.
• I can cast my fishing line without getting hung up in the trees. I guess you can say I can fish with the big boys. lol

I cannot figure out presently how to put pretty pages behind my blog page.

I cannot bait my hook, guess this is what separates me from the boys

I cannot sing although I love to

I cannot go over a bridge or through a tunnel without saying a prayer

I carefully read all of the books that I could on opening a Bed and Breakfast. I read that for the most part you would have wonderful guest but that every once in a while you would have demanding guests and some would be loud and unruly. We had two of those guests today. They seemed like a charming couple as they took a casual stroll across our back yard. But when breakfast didn't come when they felt it should they started whooping and hollering and then they got destuctive. I was very happy when they left!

Victorian Houses in Eufaula

This is a house that is for sale in Eufaula. Can't you imagine yourself drinking sweet tea on that porch. Right now there are many charming homes for sale in Eufaula.
Another great home on Randolf street. This is the favorite street in Eufaula and is in the Seth Lore Historic District. You can almost hear the horse carriages from the past.
I am amazed at the gingerbread trim on so many houses. It is a feast for the eyes.
This is a perfect cottage. Dont' you think?
Dave would like this drive way. I would like this lawn.

The houses in Eufaula come in all shapes and sizes. From the grand Shorter Mansion to sweet Victorian cottages. In this town you can find your dream home.

The Shorter Mansion is owned by the Historical Society and is open for tours and weddings and teas. This is such a beautiful place to visit. If you are interested in wonderful tours don't miss the Candelight tours at Christmas time. I actually am thinking about volunteering. So you just might see me there. This stunning home was on tour this year during Pilgrimage. I have never seen anything like it before. It appears that no cost was spared. This is truely how the other half live.
This is Stella's house just a few houses down from mine. The story is they accidently set their house on fire while painting. He used a blow torch to remove old paint and it got into the wood somehow and set the upstairs on fire. The paint job looks nice though.
This is a house that can be seen from our backyard. Or rather the top of the house can be seen.

This house was on the Pilgrimage tour and it appears that the builder of ours was the builder of this one as well as there are so many simular features. This home is for Sale and is two doors down from ours. Don't you just love the wraparound porch?

I will be snapping more pictures as I have only scratched the surface of the lovely homes in this town.

Tablescapes and Recipes with Heidi Ann

Welcome to the table. I am so glad that you have come. I have prepared it with my Granny's china and silver and crystal. She was so special to me. I enjoyed her company often as she lived next door. She taught me to cook and sew and clean house. Her home was so beautiful. I am priviledged to have many of her antiques. She passed away on Christmas day and I was told there was a standing joke that she would have to have dinner ready or she couldn't go. And she did. I always thought that the Good Lord smelled her cooking and got hungry and called her home to fix supper there. I am sure she will be at His Banquet table. In fact I can't imagine her not using the gift He gave her in Heaven. She loved me and I knew it without question. I look forward to seeing her again.

The sugar bowl and creamer and mint/nut dish were part of her luncheon dishes. I actually found another set to add to it so that I could have tea parties. Do you see the cranberry candle?

It was her mothers. I believe that they got these at the state fair. It has her name and the date which is 1899.

This is so formal and I love it but you are about to see how we really live.

Yes, sometimes we do eat with our hands. lol I can't believe I forgot the silverware.
Here are just a few ways that I set my table for everyday use.

It's a Happy Look.
This is our casual dining. We use these rooster plates everyday. If you have seen my house you know that I have just a few roosters around for decoration. A few too many that is.
Does anyone else have these vintage glasses? They came in red, blue, green and gold. I got them when we were married back in the 70's. I am so glad that I didn't get rid of them. My grandmother had red ones and I later found green ones so I guess I have all the holidays covered.
And with all the roosters around didn't you just know that the hens would show up too.

This is a great recipe. It is also a perfect way to show off your herb garden.

Fresh Herb Cornish Hens

6 servings

6 Cornish hens salt and pepper

1/4 cup butter softened

1 cup of chopped fresh parsley

1/2 cup snipped fresh chives

2 Tablespoons each of chopped rosemary and thyme

6 Tablespoons chopped fresh sage, divided

3 Tablespoons olive oil

Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Season hens, inside and out with salt and pepper to taste. In a food processor or blender, combine butter, parsley, chives, rosemary,thyme, and 2 tablespoons of sage. Process to form a paste and set aside.

With your fingers, carefully separate skin from the breast of each hen. Spread about 2 tablespoons of the butter mixture between skin and breast. Smooth skin back into place and truss.

Rub hens with olive oil and remaining 4 tablespoons of sage. Place in roasting pan. Roast 20 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degrees and roast until juices are clear when the thickest part of the thigh is pierced with fork, about 40 minutes. Baste frequently with pan juices. Remove to platter and serve with wild rice.

Another Favorite Thing.

I woke up today to a wonderful surprise. I love surprises. It was more than that though. It was the act of kindness this surprise came wrapped up in. My new friend
Cori G. created a blog banner for me and gifted me with it. She had thought that the fabric I found for my One Shabby Old House would be a wonderful banner. So simple me just took the fabric laid it on the floor and put a frame around the name and took a picture. I don't have Photo shop. And it looked pretty bad. So as I said I woke up today to this wonderful gift. A Beautiful Banner from a beautiful person.

She has a beautiful blog called Gingerbread Crumbs and Company.http://gingerbreadcrumbsandcompany.blogspot.com/ . It is a beautiful place to visit and be inspired by her poems and inspirational writings of scripture. She also has another blog for tea lovers and pretty things called Brambleberry Cottage. Both are a beautiful place to visit.

It gives me joy when God places people like Cori in my path. It it to His glory that I can write of such. God Bless you Cori!

Thankful for my Friends

I loved Mary Engelbreit's The Art of Friendship 2006 calendar.

I am a pack rat of sorts and so I didn't want to throw it out.

I decided to use in in my Scrapbook but

today I will use it in my blog as I tell you about how

Thankful I am for my Special Friend Kathleen.

Have you ever had someone come in and go out of your life? That happened with us. It grieved me as I missed her friendship. She would later tell me how she had a case of house envy. We can laugh about it now. At that particular time we were building our home. She was going through a very difficult financial time. Sometimes it is hard to watch others good fortune when life is dealing you lemons. Over and over she told me she repented of House Envy. I told her that perhaps I was just building our home for her as we now have our house up for sale. I am praying for that windfall as I really want God to bless her with her dream home. It is good that we had a chance to truly have that heart to heart that lead us back to the friends that God wanted us to be. I have learned so much from her and her love for the Lord. But we all have our moments of weakness which today is her strength. She is on the other side of that time now and is comforting me as we go through a finacial issue ourselves. I don't feel judgement from her only compassion. My bank account will never reflect the wealth I have in her friendship.

I am glad she is so skinny as there are times that we can really fill a car up.

And here she is helping me with my Grand Opening along side my other dear friend Merilu. She will be my next Thankful Thursday post. It was so cold that day and they both stayed on the porch greeting my customers.

When you follow a friend that loves the Lord and loves helping people you in turn become a better person. It's a joy to follow you Kathleen. Where to next?

Pumpkins, Pumpkins, Everywhere a Pumpkin

I went shopping with my friend yesterday and I was amazed at all the pretty pumkins everywhere. Homegoods has pumkins in every size, shape and color. So I came home with a few and started to add the fall touches here and there. This is our family room.
I don't have a very deep mantel so holding a candlestick and a skinny clock and an autumn vine is about all I can do. My hubby says I cover any bare spot in the house. I say I am a Victorian at heart.
This is the only pumpkin I came away with from Homegoods this year. I showed some restraint. My mother got this basket collection started. She had one of the 1st JW Longenberger Market baskets. I remember well the year she held that show.
My sister has the rest of her collection.

I loved how I have seen pumkins on cake plates this year. Thank you girls for that great idea.
I had everything all put in to place and thought I was done and then I went shopping again and what did I see but this beautiful Autumn tree. Omgosh I wanted it. It was only about a $1200.
The sign said.
But my purse said,

You can't.

My hubby said I have a very smart purse!
