Wanna Be Cindy for Christmas

Her home dazzles me, Her talents amaze, Her creativity is astounding and everything she touchs turns out georgous. I make my way like clockwork everyday to her blog with coffee in hand to see what she is doing. I am on her list of followers....it's a cult I'm telling you. And try we do to create whatever she has posted for the week.

I wanted to make her cookies. So I set out to do just that.

I cut them out and they were looking pretty amazing if I do say so myself. I was all giddy with excitement when I placed them in the oven.

But what the heck happened to my georgous cookies? They swelled up into big sunflower looking blobs so I recut them on the sheet and then they wouldn't lift off the tray.

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....

I even tried to carve them out using my skills as a whittler..

I managed to get 4 cookies out of the whole mess and so I decided on blue icing. Not having a couple of the ingredient's she had given in her recipe, I remembered how to make icing the we as kids use to put on graham crackers. However it was a bit runny.

I filled up my icing bag and laid it down for a minute to answer the phone and when I came back it had run out all over my counter....oh for heaven sakes!!!
And I did have some of those French thingy's that she talked about that you can't get in CA because they are illegal. Mine are gold.

Does that mean there are traces of gold in them and I could cash my box in....?? I had better save them as they may get me out of a pinch if this economy doesn't pick up.

So having said all that....this is my solution to your problem in CA Cindy...

B B's
Merry Christmas Everybody.

Becky...love ya Cindy

Oh my gosh! I'm laughing so hard! I remember the first time I saw those little silver things on cookies when I was little...I remember asking my mom if we could eat them...I really thought they were BBs.

I love that you did the cut outs on your cookies. I thought of that AFTER I baked mine. I think maybe you baked yours too long which is why they broke. Mine were still white when I took them out of the oven. I also line my baking sheet with foil but I don't know if that made a difference.

This is just too funny...you really made me laugh this morning!

Oh my! Well you gave it a good shot that's for sure. But really no one is like Cindy. Everything she touches is perfect.

However, the four cookies you did get were pretty.

Hugs,
Joanne

Becky, I was laughing out loud by the time I finished reading this. Bless your heart, as they say here in the south, you at least got the good looking 4! You must not eat them right away to show them off! I finally found out I could order the silver dragees online after searching every grocery from here to Timbucktoo! Then, duh, I remembered they were not available in certain states. Have a Merry Christmas, carrell

Lol! It's funny that cookie decorations are illegal and BBs are not. California, *sigh. Well, I would still eat your cookies, they still looked good to me! Parchment paper has helped me a bunch, otherwise my cookies turn out like ugly pancakes. Hope you have a very Merry Christmas and Happy 2009!

Oh, god. I have so much trouble with cutout cookies, too. At least you tried, I've stopped! I stick with drop cookies now.

One hint I learned AFTER making lots of messes was - parchment paper.

Use parchment paper - things will lift off the pan super easy.

they have rolls of it in the supermarket where you buy plastic wrap or wax paper.

Oh Becky! I am laughing so hard at your cookie fiasco. Only because I have had a few of those myself. For the life of me I cannot make rolled out dough cut out cookies. Like you, I might get 4 cookies when you are supposed to get a dozen. I quit trying a long time ago. We just got back from Kissimmee and would you believe my DH did not go bass fishing one time?. Maybe next time. Happy New Year ~ Lynn

OMG I'm sooo glad that I've stumbled across your blog. I was so needing a good laugh today and I've laughed soooo hard the time that you had with those cookies. I guess I was laughing so hard because that would have been my exact episode as well. Anyone who knows me knows that I'm NO cook much less a baker but I try my best when I venture into the kitchen. Thanks so much for sharing that it was just too funny and will be one that I'll remember for along time.
