Pink Victorian Shades for Pink Saturday

I was on a search for pink this week when I discovered a beautiful booth in Rennigar's in Mt Dora Florida. I was so drawn to these beautiful Victorian Lampshades.
I hope you enjoy looking at them. Be sure to click on them to enlarge as the detail is wonderful.
And when you are done make sure you go to http://www.howsweetthesound.typepad.com/ to enjoy another Pink Saturday hosted by the wonderful Beverly.
The fabric and the fringe and the beadwork are amazing and each one is a true work of art.

Beautiful don't you think?

The fringe is hand dyed to match whatever colors the artist pulls from the fabric.

At first I thought this was a print on fabric but they are actually painted by another local artist from Florida.

It isn't hard to see the care that is put into each shade.
Sigh....

And this is where it all began. The framed picture is a shade that was made by the artist's Great Grandmother. She passed away when she was 3 but she passed on her talent to her sweet Grand Daughter. Donna Ladley.

Donna has been making Victorian shades since 1972 and as you can see she has mastered her craft.

If you see anything that you would like Donna's e-mail address is :
donnaladley@embarqmail.com

I am dreaming of the day that I can own one of these beautiful shade.
Can't you see it in my Shabby Old House ?

But the trouble is , Which One?
They all would look fabulous!
Like the shade in the picture this is a larger version of Donna's Grandmother's shade.
I think Grandmother would be proud don't you? Ever wonder what you will pass to the next generation? I guess we need to remember, LITTLE EYES ARE WATCHING.

Hey Becky,
Those lampshades are very beautiful. You really do need one for your house! I know that it would be hard to pick just one! I hope that you can get one, one day. I use to go to the Atlanta and New York market when I was managing a gift shop a few years ago. They had a booth that had those lampshades there. I have some pictures of them somewhere. I will have to find them.I wonder if they were hers? I will post a picture one day when I find it. They are so beautiful!

Oh that would be hard to pick. I think my favorites were the pink flamingo one and the white one.

those are absolutely stunning. And how incredible to meet the craftswoman who actually makes them. I've got a couple of vintage lamps that need new shades, maybe I'll give her a shout.

Thanks for letting us know about her.

Have a great pink Saturday!

Oh man, I would love to have all of them, lol! Great story about her grandmother too.
You MUST get on for the victorian cottage some day! I like the ones that are shapped like her grandmother's original.

Thanks for the comments! When I upload pics I always use the "large" setting on the upload popup thingy. I usually load straight from my pc (from original size), but when using photos from flickr I choose "medium" from flickr, but still "large" in the uploader. Hope that makes sense!

Very interesting and definitely a skill to do all those steps. I love the painting on them. I agree, it is hard to know what we will pass on. I treasure things my grandmother passed on to me, and hope I make as good of grandma as she was.
